Title: More happy Than Not
Author:  Adam Silvera
Rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐.5
Pages: 300
Date read: 18 November 2018
Format: Paperback

“The boy with no direction taught me something unforgettable: happiness comes again if you let it.”

I’M NOT OKAY

This book ripped my heart out and stepped on it.  I wish I could say that it made me smile or laugh or dream, but that would be lying to you and myself.

Synopsis
in the months after his father’s suicide, it’s been tough for 16-year-old Aaron to find happiness again–but he’s still gunning for it. with the support of his girlfriend Genevieve and his overworked mom, he’s slowly remembering what that might feel like. but grief and the smile-shaped scar on his wrist prevent him from forgetting completely.

when Genevieve leaves for a couple of weeks, Aaron spends all his time hanging out with this new guy, Thomas. Aaron’s crew notices, and they’re not exactly thrilled. but Aaron can’t deny the happiness Thomas brings or how Thomas makes him feel safe from himself, despite the tensions their friendship is stirring with his girlfriend and friends. since Aaron can’t stay away from Thomas or turn off his newfound feelings for him, he considers turning to the leteo institute’s revolutionary memory-alteration procedure to straighten himself out, even if it means forgetting who he truly is.

“Happiness shouldn’t be this hard.”

I don’t know why it took me so long to read this book. But I’m happy that I finally read it.
The first like 50 pages I was like what am I reading?!? And after those pages it gripped me and it didn’t let go. The writing was beautiful and very easy to read. But I did have a little problem with this book.. the street games and their descriptions they were so  long and detailed that it was getting a little boring. Also the story hasn’t a lot of action. This bothered me a lot in the beginning. But the end made up for everything. This is also the reason that it doesn’t have a full 5 stars.

The book is not beautiful or wonderful but it is definitely unforgettable! The characters will be in my heart forever.(maybe a little to dramatic..) go read it! NOW!

With December just around the corner it is time to reread Harry Potter again!

I have this tradition that every year in December I reread Harry Potter. it’s a story that will never get old. It doesn’t matter how many other books i read, the Harry Potter books will always have a special place in my heart.

And let’s be real THERE IS NO SUCH THING AS READING TO MUCH HARRY POTTER.

So today I have 5 reasons why I reread harry potter!

1. I can revisit my favorite characters

Just for one moment I can pretend that every character is still alive. Just so that it can kill me again but that’s okay. I’M FINE.

2. I can study the books for details I might have missed

Let’s be real every time I reread Harry Potter I found out something new.

3. It’s comforting

Reading the books gives me the feeling like I’m coming home or something. The Harry potter world just never gets old.

 4. It's What Hermione Would Do

Hermione Granger would never pass up a chance to get lost in a book. Neither should I.

 5. It’s Harry Potter. Enough said.

Sometimes big books look like monstrous things. And you have no idea how to read them. They might bite you know.

I have these moments in my life that I only want to read big books. I have to day these moments start to happen more often. Why you ask? Well in the past I only wanted to read small books for the sake of reading as many books as possible. Now I just want to read good books.

Today I’m here to tell you about 5 the monstrous books I have read.

1. IT by Stephen King

Page count: 1090
Well let’s just start off with biggest one I read. This book was first of all very good and second of all HUGE. It took me forever to pick it up and to read it. But I DID IT!

2. Winter by Marissa Meyer

Page count: 827
Surprisingly I finished this pretty fast. The writing was very fast to read. While reading it I wasn’t really aware of how many pages this book had.

3. lady midnight

Page count: 720
If know me then you know that I don’t really like the shadow hunters world… DON’T JUDGE. With that you can probably ques that I found it hard to get through this book.

4. Gemina

Page count: 659
Yes this is a big book. Does it take a long time to read? no. because of the way it is written you don’t have the feeling that you are reading a HUGE BOOK. And personally I love that feeling.

5. Inheritance

Page count: 704
It has been a few years since ii read this book and i have to be honest I can’t remember a lot from it (oops). What I do remember is that it took quite some time to finish it,

One of the most horrible things of the bookworm life is finding enough time to read.
Believe it or not even I have this problem! But as it is my duty to help you survive this bookish world. So I am  listing 5 tips on how to read more and help you to get that TBR down!

1. always have a book with you

I’m aware of the fact that you probably here this a lot, but it really helps! Maybe you have to wait for an appointment or maybe you bus is late. Those little moments do really count. Before you know it you have read 50 pages more because of this.

2. listen to audiobooks

When I had to walk to my internship I always listen to an audiobook. And then suddenly I had read an extra book a month. Also when you have to clean the house or your room just put an audiobook on. This also makes it a little bit more fun.

3. watch less Netflix

You heard me right NO MORE NETFLIX. Yes you could watch Netflix every night or instead you could read. This also brings me to my next tip.

4. make it a priority

I do realize that people can be busy! But don’t think about it like it is just a book. NO YOU SHOULD DO WHAT YOU ENJOY!! And if that is reading than make time for it! You could also stop doing anything and only read for the rest of your life but that is your choice.

5. spend less time online

The moments that you scroll brainless on Instagram you could also be reading! And I’m not saying that you shouldn’t spend any time online but just see if you can trim it a little bit back. I mean those photos of books won’t help you TBR. AM I RIGHT?

Title: The Chalk Man
Author:  C.J Tudor
Rating: 2.75/5 stars
Pages: 368
Date read: 8 November 2018
Format: Paperback

“Being an adult is only an illusion. When it comes down to it I’m not sure any of us ever really grow up.”

Let’s start off with what the story is about.
In 1986, Eddie and his friends are just kids on the verge of adolescence. They spend their days biking around their sleepy little English village and looking for any taste of excitement they can get. The chalk men are their secret code; little chalk stick figures they leave for each other as messages only they can understand. But then a mysterious chalk man leads them right to a dismembered body, and nothing will ever be the same.

In 2016, Eddie is fully grown, and thinks he's put his past behind him. But then he gets a letter in the mail, containing a single chalk stick figure. When it turns out his other friends got the same messages, they think it could be a prank . . . until one of them turns up dead. That's when Eddie realizes that saving himself means finally figuring out what really happened all those years ago.
I have to stay that I had really high hopes for this book, but sadly it was just okay.
The opening of the book hooked me right away. But that lasted for like 20 pages. It felt like I was waiting for something to happen. . . the… whole… entire… book. And finally stuff happened, but it didn’t feel like something was happening.
To get a little bit of positivity in this review I have to say the writing style was very good. Also the concept of the story was very unique just not very well executed.

Here is the thing; I LOVE SERIES, but I’m terrible at completing them.

Don’t get me wrong I love reading series but waiting for the next book to come out is just a hell! I swear it’s some kind of (dark) magic. Because every time I have to wait for the next book I suddenly have started like 10 other series. And you quested it right I have to wait for the next book for them as well.

The result of this? I have to many series that are not complete… maybe it’s a smart Idea to make this a goal for next year?

So today I’m going to list 5 series I love but am also STUCK in the middle of and so I keep saying “OH YEAH I’LL FINISH THAT SOON”  which is probably a lie..

I promise I will get to them soon. Oh look more lies!

1. lunar chronicles

Now for this one I actually read almost all the books just not stars Above. Why? To be very honest I have no clue. I really loved the story but somehow that last book is some kind f struggle.

2.legend

I read the first book in like 2015 or 2016? I can’t really remember. I do remember loving it but for some magical reason I don’t get the rest of the series. I do plan on rereading the first book in 2019. I hope that this way I can be hyped about it again and finally buy the rest of the series.

3. Throne of glass

This might come to a surprise to you. I am  a HUGE Sarah J Maas fan. But the reason that I haven’t finished this is series is very simple. THE BOOK ARE BLOODY HELL EXPENSIVE!. And don’t get me wrong I don’t mind paying for a book but even I have limits.

4. The bone season

I have kind of a love and hate relationship with  this series. One moment I am totally obsessed with them and then the next minute I hate it. I know i have to get my shit together.

5.The name of the wind

OMG I loved The name of the wind! But let’s be real these books are HUGEEEEE. So I guess that I don’t need to explain why I haven’t bought  them yet. But one day I will find  the strength to complete this series. I KNOW I WILL.

I have a THING about maps in books. Basically, I love and absolutely adore maps. I could spent hours looking at those beautiful maps. BECAUSE I LOVE MAPS, OKAY?!

My opinion is that ever book should have a map. Why? Well because I don’t know how every country planet galaxy or whatever looks like! When I can see the journey that a character has to make I can visualize it way better then when they just told me.

I mostly think it is important to have a map in fantasy books. This way you can get a idea of how big the world is and what is surrounding that place. I mean if  you don’t tell me the place is surrounded by trees and you also don’t show it on the map then HOW SHOULD I KNOW?!?!?

But I have a conversion to make…  when I start  a book I look at the map but when I’m reading I never look back at it… I KNOW IT’S BAD. The reason that this happens is, that I totally get lost in the story and forget to look at the map.

Now I are probably asking yourself but what are her favorites then?!?! I won’t keep you waiting any longer!

1. The grisha trilogy

I MEAN LOOK AT THEM!!!  Also the font is just amazing.

2. A court of thorns and roses

Beside that this is my favorite series. The maps are BEAUTIFUL!

3. Children of blood and bone

I have to say that this map  reminds me of the Grisha trilogy. But still it is very pleasing to look at it.

4. Nevernight

Loved the book and the map, win win situation right?

5. The demon king

I’m a little bit cheating here because I haven’t read the book yet. But the map looks amazing! It has some kind of minimal feel to it what I totally LOVE!

Title: The bone witch
Author: Rin Chupeco
Rating: ⭐⭐⭐
Pages: 432
Date read: 24 October 2018
Format: Paperback

“if there is one thing people desire more than a good story she said, it is when they speak their own.”

Let’s start off with what this book is about.
Our heroine, Tea, lives in world full of witches. Her sisters are traditional witches, specializing in things like Forest and Water. Tea's power is unknown, but it turned out that she is a necromancer - one who can bring back the dead from the living, when she unwittingly wakes her dead brother from his coffin.

I loved the first third of this book. If that pace continued, this book would have got an easy five star rating. Unfortunately, the rest of this book felt like it would never end, and not in a good way. This book has very, very long descriptions. Sometimes I would be taken out of the plot, because it was so overwhelmingly descriptive. And don’t get me wrong I love it when the author describes things but this was just way too much.

Let’s start with the things I loved about this book.
First off, the concept of the story is amazing! It’s not something I read before. I loved the friendship between Tea and Fox. I looked forward to see the bond between them grow. Another thing that I loved about this book is that the story is told by Tea in the future. In between chapters you can see current Tea, much older, telling this tale to someone else. I wished that there were more of those chapters. These chapters had a really nice dark feeling what I absolutely loved! I found myself enjoying these chapters more  than the actual story. There is a pretty great magical system. I also love The fantastic hints of monsters.

“Sometimes it is good to remind ourselves how bitterness tastes.”

Now on to the thing that I didn’t like.
The lack of action. There were so many moments that nothing really happened. This got me very frustrated. With that Another negative thing about this book would probably be the potential for a love triangle. It felt like the author was forced to make one. It did not really fit in the story, at least that’s my opinion.
Also you get so many questions through the book and like none of them get answered. In the story they talk about a heart glass and there is like no one that tells you what this thing is… you kind have to figure it out yourself. ( okay this might have sounded a little bit harsh).

But overall  I think This book series has so much potential. so even though I didn’t really love this story I would still buy the second book. Just to see if we get some answers in that one.

Yes you read it write I’m talking about book buying bans today. Last month I bought way to many books and I thought that it was time to limit it a little bit. Since I am not the only person out there that wants to go on a book buying ban I thought would share some tips to survive one! Because let’s be honest it can be hard.. very hard to survive one.

1. Avoid bookstores!

Don't step inside a bookstore. Or a charity store. Even if someone is standing at the door and telling you they'll feed you chocolate cake if you buy a book don't do it. YOU ARE STRONGER THAN THIS.

2. Get scared

Make a list of all the unread books on your shelf. It will terrify you into not buying any more books for a while. Believe me it can really scare you when you realize how many books you have on your TBR.

3. Get excited about all the books you do have and make an effort to read them in this dark, dark time of your life

LOOK AT ALL THE WONDERFUL BOOKS ON YOUR SHELF THAT YOU DO HAVE. All the adventures waiting for you, all the characters waiting for you to fall in love with them. READ THEM! Or take pictures of them. Just do something with them.

4. distract yourself from this dark time in your life

Go organize your bookshelf! Distract yourself from buying new books and look at what you already have. And let’s be real there is just something satisfying about organizing your bookshelves.

5.  Talk with other people that are on a book buying ban

Keep each other motivated and share those tears! We are stronger when we stand together!  ( this sounded so much better in my head).
