I’M NOT OKAY

This book ripped my heart out and stepped on it.  I wish I could say that it made me smile or laugh or dream, but that would be lying to you and myself.

Synopsis
in the months after his father’s suicide, it’s been tough for 16-year-old Aaron to find happiness again–but he’s still gunning for it. with the support of his girlfriend Genevieve and his overworked mom, he’s slowly remembering what that might feel like. but grief and the smile-shaped scar on his wrist prevent him from forgetting completely.

when Genevieve leaves for a couple of weeks, Aaron spends all his time hanging out with this new guy, Thomas. Aaron’s crew notices, and they’re not exactly thrilled. but Aaron can’t deny the happiness Thomas brings or how Thomas makes him feel safe from himself, despite the tensions their friendship is stirring with his girlfriend and friends. since Aaron can’t stay away from Thomas or turn off his newfound feelings for him, he considers turning to the leteo institute’s revolutionary memory-alteration procedure to straighten himself out, even if it means forgetting who he truly is.

“Happiness shouldn’t be this hard.”

I don’t know why it took me so long to read this book. But I’m happy that I finally read it.
The first like 50 pages I was like what am I reading?!? And after those pages it gripped me and it didn’t let go. The writing was beautiful and very easy to read. But I did have a little problem with this book.. the street games and their descriptions they were so  long and detailed that it was getting a little boring. Also the story hasn’t a lot of action. This bothered me a lot in the beginning. But the end made up for everything. This is also the reason that it doesn’t have a full 5 stars.

The book is not beautiful or wonderful but it is definitely unforgettable! The characters will be in my heart forever.(maybe a little to dramatic..) go read it! NOW!
